Catherine McNeal, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, and Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Texas A&M Health Science Center
Dr. McNeal is a practicing internist (within the Division of Cardiology) and pediatrician (within the Division of Endocrinology). Her time is split equally between patient care and clinical/basic research. Her clinical research interests include identification of children and adults at risk for premature CVD including the use of linked parent-child electronic health records to improve screening of at-risk children and evaluation of different lipid screening strategies in children. She has also implemented programs aimed at reducing CVD risk in rural populations.
She is also a bioanalytical chemist and lipidologist. Her primary research in this area is focused on identification and characterization of atherogenic forms of HDL using novel bioanalytical methodologies.
